As the IPL 2020 is played in the (UAE) United Arab Emirates this year, the pitches were predicted to be more even and bowler friendly with more cracks and slowness of the pitches. 1st IPL season (2008) Purple Cap Winner: Sohail Tanvir
Sohail Tanvir has been one of the leading bowlers in the Pakistani Team and has also left his mark in the IPL playing for Rajasthan Royals. He took 22 wickets in the 11 matches played for RR to become the purple cap winner for the 2008 season.
2nd IPL season (2009) Purple Cap Winner: RP Singh
Known as one of the most successful left-arm seamers of India, RP Singh was in the form of his life during the 2009 season played at South Africa. He took 23 wickets in the 16 matches played for Deccan Chargers Hyderabad.
3rd IPL season (2010) Purple Cap Winner: Pragyan Ojha
Pragyan Ojha who turned out to be a mystery spinner in the 2010 season for Deccan Charges won the Purple Cap taking 21 wickets in the 16 matches played for the franchise.
4th IPL season (2011) Purple Cap Winner: Lasith Malinga
The Sri Lankan legend, also known as the Yorker king won the Purple Cap in 2011 season with his lethal death bowling. He took a blistering 28 wickets in the 16 matches played for Mumbai Indians.
5th IPL Season (2012) Purple Cap Winner: Morne Morkel
Morne Morkel was the go-to bowler for Delhi Daredevils in the 2012 season as he provided a very economical spell of Powerplay and Death overs. He ended up taking 25 wickets in the 16 matches played for Delhi Daredevils.
6th IPL season (2013) Purple Cap Winner: Dwayne Bravo
Dwayne Bravo has been a permanent asset to the CSK team, being one of the best death bowlers and slow-deliveries executor for the team. He took a mammoth 32 wickets in 18 matches played for CSK which is still the highest wickets in any season by any player.
7th IPL season 7 (2014) Purple Cap Winner: Mohit Sharma
Being mentored by the great MS Dhoni, Mohit Sharma learned a lot in his CSK journey which made him debut for India as well. The 2014 season was his best where he took 23 wickets of the 16 matches played.
8th IPL season (2015) Purple Cap Winner: Dwayne Bravo
You could never keep him out of the game as the Indian pitches suits his bowling style accurately. His slow deliveries and other variations were again the reason he took 26 wickets of the 16 matches played for CSK.
9th IPL season (2016) Purple Cap Winner: Bhuvneshwar Kumar
Bhuvneshwar has been one of the major bowlers for India as his early overs swing always does the trick. In the 2016 season, he was a key player in the SRH’s Title win with his economical winning and took 23 wickets in the 17 matches played for SRH.
10th IPL season (2017) Purple Cap Winner : Bhuvneshwar Kumar
Bhuvneshwar Kumar won the Purple Cap for consecutive years being in the form of his life. He brought in new variations and better pace to take 26 wickets in the 14 matches played for SRH.
11th IPL season (2018) Purple Cap Winner : Andrew Tye
The Australian turned out to be a great bowler with new variations in the 2018 season that troubled the batsmans planning to slog. He took 24 wickets in the 14 matches played for his franchise KXIP.
12th IPL season (2019) Purple Cap Winner : Imran Tahir
The 2019 Season was majorly a leg-spinner delight where almost every team’s leg spinners were shining. The one who shined the most was the South African leg-spinner who took 26 wickets in the 17 matches played for CSK.
