Celebrities have competed in the ballroom for a shot at glory on Dancing With the Stars since 2005.

Kim Kardashian, Kelly Osbourne, and Kirstie Alley have all waltzed, tangoed, and cha-cha-cha’d their hearts out, only to fall short of the challenge.

Some celebrities have gained the coveted title of America’s finest dancer with the aid of professional dancers such as Derek Hough, Julianne Hough, Mark Ballas, and brothers Maksim and Val Chmerkovskiy.

In the first season of DWTS, which aired in June 2005, only six celebrity dancers competed: Trista Sutter, Evander Holyfield, Rachel Hunter, Joey McIntyre, John O’Hurley, and soap star Kelly Monaco, who won the competition with pro Alec Mazo in his first of five seasons on the program. (He never finished higher than eighth place again.)

On July 6, 2005, the victors were named as actress Kelly Monaco and Alec Mazo; actor John O’Hurley and Charlotte Jrgensen came in second, and singer Joey McIntyre and Ashty DelGrosso came in third.

Monaco was a season winner on the ABC reality television show Dancing with the Stars during its inaugural season in 2005, with her partner Alec Mazo.

Despite harsh criticism from the judges at first, she kept a cheerful attitude throughout the season.

Among the incidents leading up to her triumph was a near-wardrobe malfunction in which the tiny strap on her dress fell undone during a Latin dance routine.

Despite receiving less-than-stellar ratings for weeks, the duo received a massive amount of viewer votes and fan support, propelling them to triumph.

The thrilling victory was so unexpected that even Bobby and Sharna confessed they had trouble putting their brains around it.

NBA shooting guard Iman Shumpert and professional dancer Daniella Karagach were named the victors on November 22, 2021, marking Karagach’s first professional triumph.

In November 2021, the former Cleveland Cavaliers player and his partner were declared champions.

“My name will be mentioned a lot because of this, but I couldn’t have had a better coach [or] made a greater friend,” the sportsman, who was the first NBA player to win the DWTS crown, exclaimed exclusively at the time about Karagach.
