So, you’ve just watched Survivor and got curious about who the “sole survivor” or previous Survivor winners were from previous seasons?

Buckle up, because we’re taking you through all Survivor Winners from the first sole survivor, to the very last sole survivors in this popular reality tv series we love!

On May 31, 2000, CBS premiered “Survivor” as a summer show.

It has been recognized by many as launching the reality show craze that has been a big part of television this century, and it has been hosted by Jeff Probst since the beginning.

The Survivor Season 1 Winner: Richard Hatch

•           Year – 2000

•           Prize Money – $1 million

“Survivor: Borneo”

On August 23, 2000, Richard won Season 1 with a 4-3 vote against Kelly Wiglesworth.

Borneo, in Southeast Asia, was the destination for that season.

Many fans still believe Richard Hatch to be one of the finest players of all time, even after the first contestant won Survivor over twenty years ago!

The first sole survivor then had a cameo in “All-Stars” after winning the grand prize.

The Survivor Season 2 Winner Tina Wesson

•           Year – 2001

•           Prize Money – $1 million

“Survivor: The Australian Outback”

Tina won Season 2 with a 4-3 vote against Colby Donaldson on May 3, 2001.

The Australian Outback was the setting for that season where she won Survivor after becoming the Sole Survivor.

She later made a comeback in “All-Stars” and “Blood vs. Water.”

•           Year – 2002

•           Prize Money – $1 million

“Survivor: Africa”

On January 10, 2002, Ethan was voted Season 3 champion by a 5-2 margin against Kim Johnson in the season finale.

Africa was the season’s location. Later, he appeared in “All-Stars” and “Winners at War.”

 The Survivor Season 4 Winner: Vecepia Towery

 

•           Year – 2002

•           Prize Money – $1 million

“Survivor: Marquesas”

On May 19, 2002, Vecepia won Season 4 with a 4-3 vote against Neleh Dennis.

She is the only Black woman to have won thus far.

The destination and season’s theme was the Marquesas Islands in French Polynesia.

•           Year – 2002

•           Prize Money – $1 million

“Survivor: Thailand”

Brian was voted Season 5 champion on December 19, 2002, with a 4-3 vote against Clay Jordan.

The season’s setting was the Thai island of Ko Tarutao, and it featured the first (and so far, only) “fake merge,” which duped the castaways into believing they were merging into a single tribe, which threw the tribal council for a loop.

•           Year – 2003

•           Prize Money – $1 million

“Survivor: The Amazon”

Jenna won Season 6 with a 6-1 vote against Matthew Von Ertfelda on May 11, 2003.

The setting for that season was the Amazon in Brazil, with a twist of men fighting versus women.

She later made a cameo in “All-Stars.”

•           Year – 2003

•           Prize Money – $1 million

“Survivor: Pearl Islands”

Sandra won Season 7 with a 6-1 vote against Lillian Morris on December 14, 2003 – a huge winning edge.

The Pearl Islands in Panama were the destination for that season.

She then appeared in “Heroes vs. Villains” (which she won), “Game Changers,” and “Winners at War,” among other shows.

The Survivor Season 8 Winner: Amber Brkich

•           Year – 2004

•           Prize Money – $1 million

“Survivor: All-Stars”

Amber was crowned Season 8 champion on May 9, 2004, with a 4-3 vote against Rob Mariano.

This season filmed in Pearl Islands in Panama, and it was the first to reintroduce past castaways for an unprecedented two seasons on Survivor.

She first participated in “The Australian Outback,” and then in “Winners at War.”

•           Year – 2004

•           Prize Money – $1 million

“Survivor: Vanuatu”

Chris was voted Season 9 champion on December 12, 2004, by a 5-2 vote over Twila Tanner.

The location for that season, Vanuatu, was dubbed Islands of Fire, and it was the second to split participants by gender.

•           Year – 2005

•           Prize Money – $1 million

“Survivor: Palau”

On May 15, 2005, Tom was voted Season 10 champion by a 6-1 margin against Katie Gallagher.

Palau was the location for that season. He later made a cameo in “Heroes vs. Villains.”

“Survivor: Guatemala”

Danni won Season 11 with a 6-1 vote against Stephenie LaGrossa on December 11, 2005.

Guatemala was the location for that season. She later made a cameo in “Winners at War”, which some called “war season”.

This was also the first season where the Hidden Immunity Idol made an appearance. A talisman which can be used for immunity from being voted off by the Tribal council.

•           Year – 2006

•           Prize Money – $1 million

“Survivor: Panama – Exile Island”

On May 14, 2006, Aras was voted Season 12 champion by a 5-2 margin against Danielle DiLorenzo.

The site for that season was Panama. He then made a cameo in “Blood vs. Water.”

•           Year – 2006

•           Prize Money – $1 million

“Survivor: Cook Islands”

Yul won Season 13 by a vote of 5-4-0 against Ozzy Lusth and Becky Lee, where the final tribal council had to pick a winner out of three sole survivors.

This season featured a winner from the Asian American community for the first time.

The Cook Islands in New Zealand were the destination for that season.

He then made a cameo in “Winners at War.”

•           Year – 2007

•           Prize Money – $1 million

“Survivor: Fiji”

Earl won Season 14 on May 13, 2007, with a 9-0-0 vote over Cassandra Franklin and Dreamz Herd.

He was the first winner who received unanimous approval from the final tribal council.

The setting for that season was Fiji, a place “Survivor” would later call home for many years.

•           Year – 2007

•           Prize Money – $1 million

“Survivor: China”

This season brought Survivor to China for the first time.

Todd won Season 15 with a 4-2-1 vote over Courtney Yates and Amanda Kimmel on December 16, 2007.

The setting for that season was China, creating TV history as the first show to film a whole season there.

“Survivor: Micronesia”

Season 16 was won by Parvati, who received a 5-3 vote against Amanda Kimmel.

That season’s location was Micronesia, and fans competed against favorites.

She first appeared in “Cook Islands,” and then in “Heroes vs. Villains” and “Winners at War.” making her a popular on air personality

“Survivor: Gabon”

On December 14, 2008, Bob won Season 17 with a 4-3-0 vote over Susie Smith and Jessica “Sugar” Kiper.

He is the oldest player to ever win the $1 million prize, at the age of 57.

Gabon was the setting for that season, dubbed “Earth’s Last Eden.”

•           Year – 2009

•           Prize Money – $1 million

“Survivor: Tocantins”

J.T. On May 17, 2009, he was voted Season 18 champion by a 7-0 margin against Stephen Fishbach.

Tocantins, Brazil, was the setting for that season, dubbed “The Brazilian Highlands.”

Later, in “Heroes vs. Villains” and “Game Changers,” he made a comeback.

•           Year – 2009

•           Prize Money – $1 million

“Survivor: Samoa”

Natalie won Season 19 with a 7-2-0 vote against Russell Hantz and Mick Trimming on December 20, 2009.

The destination for that season was Upolu, Samoa.

•           Year – 2010

•           Prize Money – $1 million

“Survivor: Heroes vs. Villains”

Sandra was the first ever of the returning winners (and the first person to win twice) and was voted Season 20 champion by a 6-3-0 margin over Parvati Shallow and Russell Hantz.

Samoa was the destination for that season. She first appeared in “Pearl Islands” (which she won), and then in “Game Changers” and “Winners at War.”

She made history by becoming the first ever two-time winner.

•           Year – 2010

•           Prize Money – $1 million

“Survivor: Nicaragua”

On December 19, 2010, Fabio won Season 21 with a 5-4-0 vote over Chase Rice and Sash Lenahan.

Nicaragua was the season’s setting, and the tribes were split by age.

•           Year – 2011

•           Prize Money – $1 million

“Survivor: Redemption Island”

Season 22 was won by Rob, who received an 8-1-0 vote over Phillip Sheppard and Natalie Tenerelli.

Nicaragua was the location for that season.

He first appeared in “Marquesas,” “All-Stars,” and “Heroes vs. Villains,” before returning in “Winners at War.”

Fun fact: The competitor, Matt Elrod was the youngest competitor on Redemption Island at just 23

The Survivor Season 23 Winner: Sophie Clarke

 

•           Year – 2011

•           Prize Money – $1 million

“Survivor: South Pacific”

Sophie was voted Season 23 champion by a 6-3-0 margin over Benjamin “Coach” Wade and Albert Destrade.

The season’s setting was the South Pacific. She later made a cameo in “Winners at War.”

The Survivor Season 24 Winner:  Kim Spradlin

 

•           Year – 2012

•           Prize Money – $1 million

“Survivor: One World”

Season 24 was won by Kim, who received a 7-2-0 vote over Sabrina Thompson and Chelsea Meissner.

Samoa was the destination for that season.

She later made a cameo in “Winners at War.”

The Survivor Season 25 Winner:  Denise Stapley

 

•           Year – 2012

•           Prize Money – $1 million

“Survivor: Philippines”

Denise won Season 25 by a 6-1-1 vote over Lisa Whelchel and Michael Skupin.

The Philippines was the location for that season.

She later made a cameo in “Winners at War.”

The Survivor Season 26 Winner:  John Cochran

 

•           Year – 2013

•           Prize Money – $1 million

“Survivor: Caramoan”

Season 26 was won by Cochran on May 12, 2013, with an 8-0-0 vote over Dawn Meehan and Sherri Biethman.

The season’s setting was Caramoan, and the “Fans vs. Favorites” gimmick was back.

He first appeared in “South Pacific.”

“Survivor: Blood vs. Water”

Tyson was voted Season 27’s champion by a 7-1-0 margin over Monica Culpepper and Gervase Peterson.

Palaui Island (Philippines) was the setting for that season. He first appeared in “Tocantins” and “Heroes vs. Villains” before returning in “Winners at War.”

The Survivor Season 28 Winner:  Tony Vlachos

 

•           Year – 2014

•           Prize Money – $1 million

“Survivor: Cagayan”

Season 28 was won by Tony with an 8-1 vote against Yung “Woo” Hwang.

The venue for that season was Cagayan (Philippines), with a Brawn vs. Brains vs. Beauty twist.

He later appeared in the shows “Game Changers” and “Winners at War” (which he won).

The Survivor Season 29 Winner:  Natalie Anderson

 

•           Year – 2014

•           Prize Money – $1 million

“Survivor: San Juan del Sur”

Season 29 was won by Natalie (formerly of “The Amazing Race”), who received a 5-2-1 vote over Jaclyn Schultz and Missy Payne.

Not only that, she won Survivor while also holding the record for most days spent on Exile Island and the Edge of Extinction (36 days).

Exile island is a place where the contestant is sent alone to survive on their own for a number of days.

San Juan del Sur was the site for that season of the reality tv.

She later made a cameo in “Winners at War.”

 The Survivor Season 30 Winner:  Mike Holloway

 

•           Year – 2015

•           Prize Money – $1 million

“Survivor: Worlds Apart”

Season 30 was won by Mike on May 20, 2015, with a 6-1-1 vote over Carolyn Rivera and Will Sims.

Nicaragua was the setting for that season, and the theme was White Collar vs. Blue Collar vs. No Collar.

The Survivor Season 31 Winner:  Jeremy Collins

 

•           Year – 2015

•           Prize Money – $1 million

“Survivor: Cambodia”

Season 31 was won by Jeremy, who received a 10-0-0 vote over Spencer Bledsoe and Tasha Fox.

That season’s location was Cambodia, and America was given the opportunity to vote on 20 competitors for their “Second Chance.”

He first participated in “San Juan del Sur,” and then returned in “Winners at War.”

The Survivor Season 32 Winner:  Michele Fitzgerald

 

•           Year – 2016

•           Prize Money – $1 million

“Survivor: Kaoh Rong”

Season 32 was won by Michele, who received a 5-2-0 vote over Aubry Bracco and Tai Trang.

The return of Brains vs. Brawn vs. Beauty was featured in that season.

She later made a cameo in “Winners at War.”

The Survivor Season 33 Winner:  Adam Klein

 

•           Year – 2016

•           Prize Money – $1 million

“Survivor: Millennials vs. Gen X”

Adam won Season 33 by a 10-0-0 vote against Ken McNickle and Hannah Shapiro.

He then reappeared in “Winners at War,” when he separated the tribes based on their ages, pitting Millennials against Gen X.

The Survivor Season 34 Winner:  Sarah Lacina

 

•           Year – 2017

•           Prize Money – $1 million

“Survivor: Game Changers”

Sarah won Season 34 with a 7-3-0 vote over Brad Culpepper and Troyzan Robertson on May 24, 2017.

That season saw the return of some of the most notorious athletes of all time.

She first competed in “Cagayan,” and then in “Winners at War.”

The Survivor Season 35 Winner:  Ben Driebergen

 

•           Year – 2017

•           Prize Money – $1 million

“Survivor: Heroes v. Healers v. Hustlers”

Ben won Season 35 with a 5-2-1 vote over Chrissy Hofbeck and Ryan Ulrich on December 20, 2017.

The tribes were initially divided into three attributes based on their prevailing perceived features throughout that season.

He then made a cameo in “Winners at War.”

The Survivor Season 36 Winner:  Wendell Holland

The Survivor Season 36 Winner  Wendell Holland

•           Year – 2018

•           Prize Money – $1 million

“Survivor: Ghost Island”

Wendell was crowned Season 36 champion on May 23, 2018, following the show’s first-ever tie vote.

Wendell and Domenick Abbate both garnered 5 jury votes, thus the third finalist, Laurel Johnson, was given the task of casting the deciding vote.

As a result, Wendell received a 6-5-0 vote over Domenick and Laurel to win the $1 million prize.

The subject of that season was undoing the curses of previous castaways’ mistakes, hence the name Ghost Island.

He then made a cameo in “Winners at War.”

The Survivor Season 37 Winner:  Nick Wilson

 

•           Year – 2018

•           Prize Money – $1 million

“Survivor: David vs. Goliath”

On December 19, 2018, Nick was voted Season 37 champion in a biblical battle between Davids (underdogs) and Goliaths (overachievers).

Nick received a 7-3-0 vote over Mike White and Angelina Keeley to win the $1 million prize.

That season was once again shot in the Fijian islands. He then made a cameo in “Winners at War.”

The Survivor Season 38 Winner:  Chris Underwood

 

•           Year – 2019

•           Prize Money – $1 million

“Survivor: Edge of Extinction”

On May 15, 2019, Chris was crowned Season 38 champion, becoming the first voted-out player to return and win.

Chris received a 9-4-0 vote from the jury, defeating runner-up Gavin Whitson and third-place finalist Julie Rosenberg.

That season was once again shot in the Fijian islands.

The Survivor Season 39 Winner:  Tommy Sheehan

 

•           Year – 2019

•           Prize Money – $1 million

“Survivor: Island of the Idols”

On December 18, 2019, Tommy was crowned Season 39 champion, following a season dominated by controversy because of one contestant (Dan Spilo) being removed for improper touching.

Tommy won the competition by an 8-2-0 vote over runner-up Dean Kowalski and third-place finisher Noura Salman.

For the eighth time, that season was shot in the Fijian islands.

The Survivor Season 40 Winner:  Tony Vlachos

 

•           Year – 2020

•           Prize Money – $1 million

“Survivor: Winners at War”

Tony was voted Season 40 champion on May 13, 2020, in the show’s climactic all-winners episode.

This is where the entire Survivor winners list was brought back to duke it out to become the ultimate sole survivor.

Tony received a 12-4-0 vote from the jury, defeating runner-up Natalie Anderson and third-place finisher Michele Fitzgerald.

That season was shot on the Fijian islands once more, and it introduced the notion of fire tokens as currency.

Tony ascended to the throne of “Survivor” after winning “Survivor: Cagayan”; he later played in “Survivor: Game Changers.”

The Survivor Season 41 Winner:  Erika Casupanan

 

•           Year – 2021

•           Prize Money – $1 million

“Survivor 41”

Erika was crowned Season 41 champion on December 15, 2021, following a year-long production delay caused by Covid-19.

Erika received a 7-1-0 vote from the jury, defeating runner-up Deshawn Radden and third-place finisher Xander Hastings.

Erika was the first Canadian winner, as well as the first woman to win in seven seasons.

Survivor Season 42: Who will be the winner?

The forthcoming forty-second season of the American reality television show Survivor is titled Survivor 42.

The season will air on CBS in the United States, Global in Canada, and 9Go! in the United Kingdom on March 9, 2022.
